俗語說再多的金錢也換不來健康。在棒球上，這句話的解釋是花再多的錢買來的球員也有可能上 DL，而上了 DL 的球員有再好的實力和天份也沒有用。

Yankees 目前有受傷問題的最近都談過了：Steve Karsay 和 El Duque 都是六七月才能歸隊，不會在開幕日名單上，Karsay 目前在 60-day DL 上面。Jon Lieber 則是傷到 groin，可能會錯過一到兩次先發，應該不會隨隊去日本，他是在 15-day DL 上。Bernie Williams 先前動手術割除盲腸，預計也來不及列入開幕日名單，他應該也會在 15-day DL 裡面。Travis Lee 的肩膀有問題，到底情況如何有待進一步的檢驗結果出來才知道。

除了這些人以外，Gary Sheffield 從去年下半年開始就是帶著拇指的傷一路打到現在，他並不打算現在開刀治療，同時情況似乎也還在他能夠容忍的範圍之內。不過這無論如何是潛在的危險。Kevin Brown 有不少傷史，雖然他現在健康，不過以他的年紀配上那樣的歷史，Yankees 要賭賭運氣。Will Carroll 在他的 Team Health Report 裡面給 Jason Giambi、Bernie Williams 和 Kevin Brown 三個人紅燈，不過春訓看起來 Jason Giambi 經過手術修理過後的膝蓋似乎還好，同時他減輕了不少體重，對於膝蓋來講壓力減輕不少。風險仍然在那裡，也許小了一點，但是小多少不知道。Yankees 的先發 lineup 只有 A-Rod、Matsui 和 Enrique Wilson 三個人是綠燈，而 rotation 加上 Mo 也只有 Moose 拿了一個綠燈。

出問題的不只是 Yankees，薪資排名第二的 Red Sox，他們也有明星球員受傷：Nomar Garciaparra 的檢驗結果是輕微的 Achilles tendinitis，也許傷趕的上在開幕戰前痊癒，不過他能不能夠有足夠的 AB 來調整自己的狀況就不知道了。到現在為止他只有 8 AB，還好他不是在 Yankees，今年除了 Yankees 和 Devil Rays 之外其他各隊開幕日都比去年稍晚一點。

另外 Trot Nixon 背部不適，預計缺席六週，要五月才能回來。Byung-Hyun Kim 也是另外一個問號。

這兩隊的替補深度並不是最好的，不過他們的 rotation 及 lineup 的深度卻讓他們能夠容忍相當程度的損失。錢可以買到好球員，不過不能保證他們健康。像這兩隻期望這麼高的球隊，farm 又同時這麼爛，只有大把大把鈔票砸下去買深度了。

而且買回來的球員沒有人能保證他們會健康。

Notes: Taiwan President Chen Shui-Bian was injured in a scary gun-shot incident and is currently listed as day-to-day. His backup, Vice President Annette Lu, was injured at the same time. Since the season is coming to an end, they'll likely play hurt for the one last day. Yankees owner George Steinbrenner loves such kind of football mentality and will probably sign them if they don't win the job for the next four years. The fact they both are on the wrong side of 50 just makes the Boss feel more interested.

Update: Both Chen and Lu just got four year extension contingent on passing the physical.
