在 David Wells 跟 San Diego 簽約後，幾乎已經確定 Yankees 的開幕日 rotation 裡面沒有左投，而這是自 1947 年以來的第一次。

NY Times 的 Tyler Kepner 在今天的一篇報導 "Lefty Is Lacking in the House That Ford and Guidry Shored Up" 中，引述了 GM Brian Cashman 的一段話：

"The preference would be to have a nice balance of lefties and righties. But if it comes down to a higher-caliber right-hander versus a lesser-caliber left-hander, I'd go with the higher-caliber right-hander."

話是沒有錯，不過如果明年有 Brandon Claussen 可以競爭 rotation 的最後一個名額，就算沒有 Andy Pettitte 也不會感覺太糟。我實在不理解為什麼去年 Yankees 沒有看清楚 Aaron Boone 是個被高估了的球員，那時候許多球迷都可以從數據裡看出來，我實在不相信 Yankees 沒有辦法。據說那個交易並不是由 Steinbrenner 一手主導的，所以 Stick Michael 和 Cashman 這兩個人或多或少有參與討論，對於這個交易也有責任。
